Chapter Summary

This chapter presents Curriculum Vitae of Jaroslav Stetkevych, the Professor Emeritus of Arabic Literature at the University of Chicago. He was born in Ukraine on 25 April 1929. After attending secondary schools in Ukraine and Germany, he studied at the University of Madrid where he received his degree licenciatura with "Premio Extraordinario". He commenced his PhD research at Cairo University (1957-58), but soon transferred to Harvard University, where he obtained his doctorate in Arabic Literature in 1962. After his retirement in 1996 he was distinguished visiting professor at the American University in Cairo in 2001. Jaroslav Stetkevych is the author of many books and articles, which are listed in the chapter.
