This appendix presents general communication guidelines when engaging oneself in public diplomacy. These include: demonstrating respect for other countries' culture and contributions, being not afraid to admit that the U.S. faces many challenges and struggles to live up to its own ideals, being extremely cautious and if possible, avoiding using religious language, and developing a communication strategy to support public diplomacy events and policy developments.
