Chapter Summary

Consistent with the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG's) statutory mandate to operate in accordance with the highest standards of professional journalism and to safeguard the editorial integrity and independence of its broadcast organizations, as well as the BBG Strategic Plan for 2008-2013. BBG should consider covering newsworthy events sponsored by government agencies, such as exchange programs, health care, scientific collaboration, and education initiatives. In response to changing user habits and the dramatically different media landscape, new web-based approaches must be developed and expanded by all agencies. The interagency community should collaborate with technology professionals to identify recommendations on current trends and the most effective ways of reaching youth audiences.
