Each of the 50 states of the United States has enacted legislation permitting it to transfer offenders convicted in its courts to their countries of nationality pursuant to international prisoner transfer treaties between the United States and those prisoners' countries of nationality. These statutes, as well as the contact information for the state officials who coordinate the implementation of the prisoner transfer programs for each state, are available at the Department of Justice website www.justice.gov/criminal/oeo.
