Chapter Summary

Any type of relationship involving an exchange of goods for services, where each party had mutual obligations to the other, could be described by the term lánamnas "couple; partnership; and social and/or legal relationship between two parties". These types of social and legal relationships existed not only between a lord and his clients, but also between a husband and wife, the church and its tenants, foster-parents and foster children, teachers and students, and between parents and their children. This chapter presents six commentaries of Cáin Lánamna (CL) which gives the details for each of these types of relationships.

Keywords: foster-parents; Cáin Lánamna (CL); legal relationship
