Chapter Summary

This chapter begins with history, aims, and results of the "Hebrew manuscripts and fragments in Austrian libraries" project. The aim of the overall project is to document and identify unknown Hebrew fragments in Austrian libraries or manuscript collections other than the Austrian National Library. The project also aims to describe their codicological and palaeographical features, to record the bibliographical data of their respective Trägermedien, and to publish the results with photographs of the discovered fragments. The methodological approach adopted in the project is determined by the place where the Hebrew fragments are located in the manuscripts and printed works, as well as by the analysis of the text discoveries and the publication of the results.
