Chapter Summary

The Government of United States of America and International Tribunal in Yugoslavia and Rwanda have reached an agreement. The United States agrees to surrender to the Tribunal persons found in its territory who has been charged with a violation within the competence of the Tribunal. A request, for surrender of a person who is sought for prosecution, shall also be supported by copies of the warrant of arrest and of the indictment and by information sufficient to establish there is a reasonable basis to believe that the person sought has committed the violation for which surrender is requested. In case of urgency, the Tribunal may request the provisional arrest of the person. The United States may authorize transportation through its territory of a person surrendered to the Tribunal by another State. The Tribunal shall bear the expenses related to the translation of documents and the transportation of the person surrendered.
