Chapter Summary

This chapter of of the Yuejue shu is concerned with King Goujian of Yue's troubles at Kuaiji, and how his triumphant overcoming of adversity led to him being respected by all his peers. It presents an account of King Goujian of Yue's international diplomatic success after his conquest of Wu. The chapter is also concerned with the fate of Fan Li and Grandee Zhong after the conquest of Wu. These events are also referred to in other ancient historical texts, most notably the Shiji. It discusses Wu Zixu's death, giving an account of the sequence of events. The chapter provides a description of the core chapters of the Yuejue shu.
