Chapter Summary

This chapter is divided into five parts. First, the main stages of the development of the Deutero-Isaiah-hypothesis in Is 4055 is presented. In the second part the most important critical voices against the theory is heard. In the third part the results of redaction- critical research is summarized and evaluated. The fourth part offers an alternative explanation, and this new reading is put to the test in the fifth part by an analysis of some crucial passages in Is 4048.
