Chapter Summary

This section contains a list of terms and concepts that occur in this book titled The mystery of the earth: mysticism and Hasidism in the thought of Martin Buber . The first half of this book is intended to elaborate and to provide a phenomenological basis for what Scholem stated in a few pithy phrases. As for the Jewish aspect of Buber's writings: the author see his thought as a detailed working out of a process leading from the teachings of the Kabbalah, focused particularly upon the upper worlds; via Hasidic teaching, that seeks to connect earth and heaven; to his own thought, that seeks the realization of the life of the spirit through man's labor in this world- particularly in the human and social spheres, with which the second part of the book deals in particular.
