Chapter Summary

This chapter presents several images of Chinese paintings found in Daoist temples. A total 62 paintings and three illustrations are given in the chapter. These include paintings of the water deities Zhao Yu, Li Bing and Erlang, the three Mao brothers, unidentified thunder deities, and an imperial ancestor portrait of Song Emperor Taizong. The chapter also includes an illustration of a 'square-heart necktie' and a map of the Yongle gong temple complex.
