Chapter Summary

This chapter covers major domestic political developments, the foreign policy and socio-economic trends in sub-Sahara Africa - all related to developments in one calendar year. It contains articles on all sub-Saharan states, each of the four sub-regions (West, Central, Eastern, Southern Africa) focusing on major cross-border developments and sub-regional organizations as well as one article on continental developments and one on African-European relations. Judicial-political affairs were a feature of the entire year of 2010. On 23 December, the National Assembly approved the national budget for 2010, worth $ 153 m, of which $ 50 m was for current expenditure and $ 103 m for capital expenditure; of the latter, 90% was to be financed by foreign donors.
