Chapter Summary

Appendix three of the book Gaius Meets Cicero. Law and Rhetoric in the School Controversies presents the topoi of the Sabinians and the Proculians. By introducing these two ideas, i.e., the connection between jurisprudence and legal practice and the role of rhetoric and topica in jurisprudence, the book intends to throw a new light on the study of the schools and the controversies that existed between them in particular and Roman law in general.
