Chapter Summary

The United Bible Societies Greek New Testament (UBS) was first published in 1966 followed by a second edition in 1968, which incorporated minor changes. The third edition appeared in 1975 and offered a changed text which was adopted by Kurt Aland for the 26th edition of the Nestle text (NA26). Now we have a fourth edition which is qualified as revised. This chapter concentrates on the new features in the 4th edition. Although we have a similar number of variation units many of these are new. The chapter examines the character of these changes in detail. 1993 saw the publication of the 4th edition of the UBS4 and the 27th edition of the Nestle-Aland text (NA27). The Greek text remains unaltered in these new editions, so, once again, the two are virtually identical in this respect. The chapter examines the main changes to be seen in NA27.
