Some of the fields included here are: archaeology; historical archaeology; ancient art history; material culture; epigraphy and palaeography; and numismatics and sigillography. The ABIA Project was initiated in 1997 by the International Institute for Asian Studies at Leiden and aims at building an online database in the tradition of the old ABIA in close cooperation with institutes in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
