Chapter Summary

Bonaventure Vulcanius years of studies at Louvain and especially his eleven long years of living in Spain have profoundly immersed him in the Catholic world. Without prejudice to his religious beliefs, it can be said that Vulcanius was firmly established in a Catholic environment that nourishes and gives him the channel of its networks to subsidize his intellectual activity. It seems appropriate to consider the possible role played by the religious factor in this sudden mutation that led Vulcanius to move from one world to another, and then to discuss the terms of his inclusion in the international network and the role Protestant could play in it. It seems possible to conclude, a hypothesis that could illuminate the commitment of Bonaventure Vulcanius within the Protestant international network along the springs of a spiritual journey that remains unclear. The original text of the chapter is in French.
