Chapter Summary

This appendix section of the book titled I Am Large, I Contain Multitudes: Lyric Cohesion and Conflict in Second Isaiah contains the list of Motif recurrences in Second Isaiah. The movement away from attention to poetry seems largely influenced by two factors: (i) assumptions about the nature of prophecy and (ii) the lack of tools for dealing with collections of poems as artistic wholes. In light of recent advances in approaches to poetic collections, the book advocates a return to the study of Second Isaiah's meaning in light of its distinctive poetic structure and does so by utilizing tools employed both by biblical scholars and contemporary poetic theorists.

Keywords:lyric cohesion; Motif Recurrences; poetic theorist; Second Isaiah
