Chapter Summary

This chapter discusses the edition of multiplication forms of manuscripts typical for the Council environment, for instance public dictate (pronunciatio) known from the university operation. In addition, because of the large number of simultaneously circulating copies numerous Contamination can be expected, whether by review of articles using other copies or by intuitive conjecture which often stereotyped same pieces of text by the writer. A Stemma representation of the manuscript witnesses would be fraught with major uncertainties and risks of error and would hardly prove to be helpful for creating text. For this edition, therefore, one possible contemporary and low-error search handschrift were selected for capturing the variations of the largest possible number of 15th century manuscripts. The original text of the chapter is in German.
