Chapter Summary

This chapter presents an overview on the early years of Lodovico Pontano. When exactly Lodovico Pontano is born, can not be determined with certainty. However, it should be noted that Pontano was very young when he left the area of Cerreto. Lodovico called himself as Romanus and acquired Roman citizenship. Lodovico leaves Rome to take study of Roman law in Perugia. The University of Perugia was still one of the best places to study of Roman law. Lodovico Pontano left his native Umbria and continued his studies in Bologna. Pontanos employment as a lecturer in civil law was carried out under the condition that the promotion would succeed him until the end of November. Within a short time, Lodovico Pontano could thus established not only in the city and the university, but drew attention to himself and beyond the city boundaries. The original text of the chapter is in German.
