Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Michael Klein on the Targums: Collected Essays 1972-2002 contains the table of contents, list of illustrations, foreword and article credits. Professor Michael Klein was one of the foremost twentieth-century scholars of the targumim. His many publications earned him a place of honor among Israeli and international experts in the field. Michael Klein's Ph.D. dissertation, written for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and published in 1982, examines the methods employed by the Pentateuchal targumim in the avoidance of anthropomorphism. His innovative conclusion was that when it comes to this central question the targumim are not consistent.
