Chapter Summary

This bibliography section presents the list of reference books and articles that occur in this book titled The Political Philosophy of Zhang Taiyan. The book offers a radical rereading of Zhang Taiyan's philosophy, highlighting the significance of Zhang's ideas in the context of global capitalist modernity. Zhang Taiyan entered the discursive world of the late Qing as a nationalist and eventually judged this world as alienating and attempted to negate it. At the heart of Zhang's thought is the contrast between his anti-Manchu nationalism and his Buddhist self-negation. Scholars of Zhang Taiyan have struggled to bring these two contradictory elements of his thought together.
