Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Language and Reality contains the table of contents, preface to the French edition and abbreviations that occur in the book. The goal of the book is not simply to understand Indian thought in its multiple expressions, but further to discover the reasons (or at least one of the reasons) why it took one form instead of another, why one position was chosen in favor of another. If Indian thought offers solutions to certain problems, or answers to a good number of questions, then the goal of the book is to identify at least one of these problems, one of these questions.
