Chapter Summary

This appendix of the book Les traductions françaises du De regimine principum de Gilles de Rome Parcours matériel, culturel et intellectuel d'un discours sur l'éducation contains transcription of the prologue of the translator, Gilles deschamps. This book deals with different translations of Giles of Rome's De regimine principum (1279) into Old French and their readership. It offers a concrete picture of what Giles of Rome's educational ideas became in the process of their transmission to a lay readership. With De regimine principum, the author participates in an important way to transmission and distribution of Aristotelian ideas in the Christian West in the middle ages.
