This chapter describes the data base that was used to process the information contained in the sources. It discusses the quality of the data and suggests ways to lessen the impact of the data's limitations. The main contribution of the chapter, which is a detailed statistical analysis of the worker population. It includes remarks about the composition of the population: sex ratio, age categories, mortality, disability, and absences. The chapter summarizes some of the more significant results of the statistical analysis. The 520 texts fitting the selection criteria formed the basis for the Document Table, and the information on the individuals listed on 307 of these texts was entered into the Personnel Table.
