Chapter Summary

Finland has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1989, and of the European Union since 1995. This chapter commences with the constitutional provisions, the relevant provisions of the constitution of Finland of 17 July 1919 which sections Freedom of movement Equality Freedom of religion and conscience as amended up to 2007. Next, the chapter presents Penal Code Provisions which includes Criminal Code of 1889 as Amended up to 2008. included in non-discriminationand Protection of Minorities is Non-Discrimination Act of 2004, as Amended up to 2009 and Sámi Language Act of 2003, respectively. Finally, the chapter presents Equality Bodies / OMBUDSMAN and the Act on the Ombudsman for Minorities and the National Discrimination Tribunal of 2001, as Amended up to 2008.
