Chapter Summary

Greece has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1949, and of the European Union since 1981. This chapter commences with the constitutional provisions, the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Greece of 7 June 1975, as amended up to 2008. Next, the chapter presents Penal Code Provisions, which includes the Penal Code of 1950, as Amended up to 2008. These are articles on Inciting and offfering to commit a felony or a misdemeanor, Malicious blasphemy, Blasphemy concerning religions and Disturbance of a religious assembly. Included in Non-Discrimination is Law on the Punishment of Acts or Activities Aiming at Racial Discrimination of 1979, as Amended up to 2005 (Anti - Racism Law). Finally the chapter presents Equality Bodies / Ombudsman and Law on the Ombudsman and Other Provisions of 2003.
