Chapter Summary

Liechtenstein is not a member of the European Union but has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1978. It is a participant in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the European Economic Area Agreement. Liechtenstein has also expressed interest in joining the Schengen agreement, but is not yet a member. This chapter commences with the constitutional provisions, the relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Principality of Liechtenstein of 5 October 1921, as amended up to 2003. Included in Penal Code Provisions is Penal Code of 1987, as Amended up to 2006. These are articles on Special aggravating circumstances, Special aggravating circumstances, Disturbance to religious worship, Disturbance to the deceased, Racial discrimination and Genocide. Finally, the chapter presents Equality Bodies/Ombudsman.
