Chapter Summary

Romania has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1993, and of the European Union since 2007. This chapter commences with the constitutional provisions, the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Romania of November 21 1991, as amended up to 2003. Next the chapter talks about Human Rights Related Legislation which includes Law on Radio and Television Broadcasting of 1992 and The Audiovisual Law of 2002. Included in Criminal Code Provisions is Criminal Code of 2009. Then the chapter talks about Labour Code of 1997, which is included in non discrimination. Finally this chapter presents Protection Of Minorities and Equality Bodies / Ombudsman which talk about Act on the use of the Romanian Language in Public Places, Relations and Institutions of 2004 and Law on the Organisation and Functioning of the Institution of the Advocate of the People of 1997, as Amended up to 2004 respectively.
