This bibliography contains a list of reference books, articles, and other works that have been cited for the book Modern Colonization by Medical Intervention: U.S. Medicine in Puerto Rico. The book refers to a variety of medical, biographical and medico-literary texts that were authored in the period from 1850 to 1950. Dr. Manuel Quevedo Báez, the founder of Puerto Rico's medical association, reflected that biographies were as difficult to construct as oil paintings. Historians who study Puerto Rico share a popular belief that public health institutions developed at the beginning of the twentieth century began to solve the crisis of Puerto Rico's high mortality rate.
