Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of terms and concepts that occur in the book Language Production and Interpretation: Linguistics meets Cognition. The book gives an account of the production and interpretation of natural language utterances that would be linguistically, psychologically, and computationally plausible. A model of production and interpretation of natural language utterances is developed which explains why communication is normally fast and successful. Interpretation is taken to be analogous with visual perception in finding the most probable hypothesis that explains the utterance.
