Chapter Summary

This appendix section of the book Regime Change and Ethnic Politics in Indonesia: Dayak Politics of West Kalimantan contains a list of names of interviewees and a location of interviews. The sudden fall of the authoritarian New Order in May 1998 drastically changed the landscape of Indonesian local politics. Newly found political freedom as well as opportunities made available by decentralization policies generated strong political and social movements in the regions. Following the fall of the New Order, West Kalimantan has witnessed a sudden surge of political activity among the Dayaks, one of the native ethnic groups of the province. The pressures from the Dayak elites and their supporters started in district head elections in Sanggau and Pontianak during the transition period between 1998 and 1999.
