Chapter Summary

This bibliography presents a list of reference books and articles relevant to the study of investigation of stories of growing old from Petrarch's to Montaigne's time. The book investigates stories of later life ranging from Ficino's and Zerbi's health regimens to personal accounts by Petrarch, Erasmus, Cornaro, and Montaigne. These writers all shared an interest in the care of the aging self and in pragmatic ways of minimizing the effects of time on human physical and cognitive capacities.
