Chapter Summary

This chapter presents a list of bibliographical references to the discussion of Joseph Seniri, whose exegesis attests to the strength and the vitality of the study of the Bible in Provence at the turn of the thirteenth century. The book highlights a Jewish intellectual center, Beaucaire, alluded to in the rhymed-prose testimony of Judah al-Ḥarizi. As such, it contributes to our still very imperfect knowledge of the Jewish communities of Provence, of their methods of teaching the Bible and more generally to a better understanding of the transmission of knowledge and texts. The original text of the chapter is in French.
