Chapter Summary

This index contains a list of names of non-biblical authors discussed in the book Divine Visitations and Hospitality to Strangers in Luke-Acts. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order. The book offers a more robust analysis, from a socio-cultural and literary perspective, of the narrative purposes of hospitality both in the Malta episode and the ancient Mediterranean texts. It argues that Acts 28:1-10 is a theoxeny, that is, an account of unknowing hospitality to a god, in this case the emissary of God, which results in the establishment of a fictive kinship relationship between the barbarians and Paul and his God.

Keywords: ancient Mediterranean world; divine visitations; hospitality; Luke-Acts; Malta Episode
