Chapter Summary

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the book on Physica Sacra: Wunder, Naturwissenschaft und historischer Schriftsinn zwischen Mittelalter und Früher Neuzeit. The book attempts to provide a counter-proposal that would like to prescribe the perspective of medievalists. The interpretation of Scripture should here be understood not only as a series of innovations on the road to modernity and an ongoing eradication of historical hypotheses, but as the persistence of the approaches of the Middle Ages. The text of Scripture must be counted among the strong sense in the hermeneutic texts and can be assumed to be self-evident. The book attempts to discuss the alliance between science and theology in a diachronic perspective. The original text of the chapter is in German.
