This index presents a list of author names and terms that occur in this book titled A Companion to Mysticism and Devotion in Northern Germany in the Late Middle Ages. In the 15th century, monastic reform was carried out in northern Germany in the spirit of the Windesheim Congregation. It resulted in the spiritual and musical practices of the Devotio moderna becoming far more influential in northern German monasteries. The impact of a new inwardness, for example, is demonstrated by the fact that liturgical duties were carried out more strictly and song texts circulated which aimed to stir emotions conducive to meditation and prayer.
