The Sancta Ecclesia Marabensis, the name given by Pope John VIII to the new church in a letter sent in 880 to the Moravian ruler Svatopluk, was a new ecclesiastical province organised by the Apostolic See for the pastoral care of the Slavic people living beyond the eastern border of the Carolingian realm.
