Chapter Summary

This chapter begins with the author talking about his appointment as the governor; as the author was the chairman of the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD), the DPRD supported his appointment. Next, the author talks about his dual postings - chairman of the Komite Nasional Pemuda Indonesia (KNPI), and the chairman of the Kamar Dagang dan Industri. After a brief mention about the author being a native of Sentani, the chapter describes the author's work on village development which resulted in realistically achieving better standards of living from year to year. The author then informs of the support he received from the Minister of Home Affairs for his programmes, and describes the three pillars which were involved in village development - first, adat; second, the church or community or non-government organizations; and third, the government. The chapter also describes the various Papuan political parties.
