Chapter Summary

This chapter begins with an account of the author's support for Isaac Hindom instead of Acub Zainal for the post of governor. Then, the author talks about his education at the Opleidingsschool voor Inheemse Bestuursambtenaren (OSIBA), the School for Indigenous Administrators. The author says that the subjects that were taught at the School - government, police, criminal and civil sciences - were useful for the author. Next, the author relates his relationship with Dutch employees, particularly, Minderhout and Brand. From Biak, the author was moved to Fakfak to serve as chairman of the Regional Council; he also directly doubled as the HPB. The chapter describes the author's interactions with Mbak Tutut (President Soeharto's daughter), and ends with the author's teaching assignment at the Cendrawasih University (Uncen).
