Chapter Summary

This chapter relates the author's experiences when he was a civil servant for the Dutch government. His decision was related to developments in the cooperation between Papua New Guinea (PNG) and West Papua. His life in 1962 was very eventful when the Netherlands handed over the governance of West Papua to the Republic of Indonesia. In his first essay in the Pengantara weekly, he protested the model of housing constructed in the cities for Papuan employees and workers. Sketching his traing at OSIBA, he talks about his trips with a photographer visiting residency towns, districts, and regions across Papua where developments and projects were being carried out and we wrote articles about them. One thing he will never forget is the founding of the Ikatan Pemuda Pelajar. Finally, he talks about the international conference of the Moral Re-Armament organization that was being held in Asia for the first time.
