Chapter Summary

This appendix presents a list of Wa-language place names in and around the Wa-speaking area found in the source materials of the dictionary including books, maps, articles and calendars. Far from being a single language, Wa encompasses a diverse cluster of closely related dialects. The sociolinguistic context in which Wa is spoken is complex. Paraok and Bible Wa have reasonable currency as the de facto standard varieties of the language, and are widely understood.
