Chapter Summary

This chapter discusses the third-country networks, specifically the linkages to the USA, which were very important to the Chinese student campaign. It moves forward from earlier scholarship that has presented the People's Republic of China (PRC) student campaign as an instance of cross national diffusion in social movements, cyber politics or networked political activity to explore in more detail the significance both of migrants' international networks in the host country and of networking with third countries. The chapter discusses how these networks functioned in PRC Chinese student community activities and examines their organizational process and leadership. It also draws attention to the role of the Federation for Democratic China (FDC) Newsletter, the Chinese Alliance for Democracy (CAD) Newsletter and the online China News Digest in establishing contacts between PRC Chinese student communities worldwide, especially in their worldwide campaign to seek political asylum.
