Chapter Summary

This index of the book Critical Practice from Voltaire to Foucault, Eagleton and Beyond: Contested Perspectives presents a list of proper nouns, terms and concepts relevant to the discussion on critical theory. To capture the dynamics of method, timing and effect of critique, cases, for the book, were chosen by selecting three pairs of subjects who worked under three different socio-historical conditions. These include backing up to the pre-revolutionary age of the eighteenth century when modern critical activity was born, by selecting François-Marie Arouet Voltaire and Friedrich Schiller as case-study candidates.

Keywords: critical practice; critical theory; François-Marie Arouet Voltaire; Friedrich Schiller
