Chapter Summary

This bibliography of the book Simon Dubnow's "New Judaism": Diaspora Nationalism and the World History of the Jews presents a chronological list and articles in Russian and other languages (1881-1939) relevant to the discussion on Diaspora nationalism and the world history of the Jews. Russian Jewry was much larger than German Jewry, hitherto the biggest diaspora community to be emancipated. The nineteenth century had witnessed an extraordinary growth in the Russian-Jewish population. The imposition of an army quota on the Jewish community in 1827 and the dragooning of large numbers of Jewish children into military cantonist schools generated tremendous hostility among Jews towards the government.

Keywords: diaspora community; Russian Jewry; Simon Dubnow
