Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of names that occur in this book on Transformations of the Classics via Early Modern Commentaries. The book analyzes the commenting functions of images (Pieper and Karl Enenkel). It deals with one of the groundbreaking works of early modern book illustration, Grüninger's and Locher's edition of Horace (1498). Horace gets the attributes of the commentator, who had been crowned as a poet laureate by the Roman King Maximilian, whereas the commentator, with the same attributes, appears several times as the "author".
