Chapter Summary

This section presents a preamble for the book Geometridae lbericae. The book includes information on the 589 species of geometrid moths (a figure which cannot be regarded as final) which are considered to be present in the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic archipelago (Andorra, Portugal and Spain, with the Balearic Islands), and a further 43 species that have also been recorded from the lbero-Balearic area but which, for various reasons, are excluded from the final list. Two new subspecies are described, Crocallis albarracina centraliberica ssp. nov. and Eupithecia graphata carpetanensis ssp. nov. The presence in the Iberian Peninsula of Idaea sylvestraria is confirmed, and two new species are added to the list, Idaea rusticata and Lhommeia biskraria, which is also new to Europe.

Keywords: Balearic archipelago; geometrid moths; Iberian Peninsula; Lhommeia biskraria
