Chapter Summary

This chapter establishes and delineates the sources used by the three synoptics for Part D. The parallelism inside the part B does not found only in Matthew and in Mark; it emerges with even more force if we attentively compare Mark and Luke. All features suggest very strongly that the part A forms an entity distinct from B, and the evangelists have used at least two different sources for the formation of Part D. The schematic structure a, b, c, forming the framework of the Galilean ministry in Mark is found with the same elements in a parallel tradition in Luke 4, 14-15. The parallel structure of B, its undeniable literary unit, its theological theme focused on the role of Jesus as exorcist, by opposition to the role of teacher and of miracle worker of Part A. The original text of the chapter is in French.
