Chapter Summary

The krichliche claim that the last salvation and supporting truth were linked exclusively to Jesus Christ, is now disputed in various ways. This chapter takes a first look at the facts in the New Testament and especially in the fourth gospel. Through all the layers of the New Testament through with the person connects to a Jesus on the exclusive and at the same time long shot out-targeting claim. The Gospel of John, from which one has said it had driven the demythologizing most advanced, provides the exclusive claim Christ out most sharply. The chapter addresses the following questions: what is now to interpret the striking findings, and which function gets the Jesus levied exclusive claim for the full testimony of the Fourth Gospel. It discusses this question by some observations on the specific ego-eimi words and then paradigmatic screening some typical texts.
