Chapter Summary

This chapter presents an overview on the linguistic-stylistic analysis of the Passio Olavi. Stylistic study of the Passio Olavi was carried out by Eiliv Skard. In order to distinguish between a number of preambles and the stylish individual features during linguistic-stylistic analysis of the Passio Olavi, a fixedly definable and completed text unit has been investigated. The analysis of the full text of the Passio Olavi also called for the establishment of clear methodological procedures and criteria. The linguistic-stylistic analysis of versions A and B of the Passio Olavi aims to point out the specifics of sentence structure, including the use of tenses and modes. The panegyric character of the entire text of the Passio Olavi is specified due to the density of the Bible language and stylistic and rhetorical figures in opening passage. The original text of the chapter is in German.
