Chapter Summary

The first historical-critical edition of the Passio Olavi presents the entire text material of known Latin manuscripts and prints. Each Recensio is edited separately. The different presentation of the Recensio is oriented based on the results of the formal content, language-style and text-critical investigations. The Passio part of Recensio I is presented in a synoptic representation of the long version A and B. The edition has the target to accurately reproduce the traditional text form of the respective manuscript with its linguistic and orthographic peculiarities. The only editorial intervention is the introduction of the sentence, paragraph structure, modern punctuation and abbreviations. The text parsing system of the manuscripts is replaced by the modern punctuation. The original text of the chapter is in German.

Keywords: language-style; Latin manuscripts; linguistic peculiarities; orthographic peculiarities; synoptic representation
